Whether it’s the start or end of summer, a hot day can ruin your day as quickly as it ruins your plans. There are many ways to cool down your home by heading outdoors or opening windows, but if your AC struggles with increasing temperatures, then you need to call a professional right away. When you find yourself in this situation, take action right away with these tips to help resolve the issue.

AC systems are incredibly complicated and contain many parts which can break down over time. We strongly encourage homeowners with AC problems to call a professional for help – there’s no sense in wasting money trying to fix things you don’t know how to fix, and it’s generally less expensive to get professionals like us to do the work!

    Common Problems with Thermostats

You may be unaware that your thermostat needs repairs if you don’t run any tests. However, common problems with thermostats include the following: Thermostats are often the source of our cooling system problems. It is not uncommon for the thermostat to mistakenly put on the wrong setting or switched to “fan” mode instead of cooling. If this the case, you will hear the fan come on, and you will likely feel the air being moved throughout your home, but it will not feel cool.

Your air conditioner requires refrigerant to cool. If your system has a refrigerant leak, it will not effectively cool your home. Signs you have a refrigerant leak include a loss of cooling, your air conditioner running for longer periods to achieve the temperature you set, or a hissing sound coming from your system. Finding ice on your evaporator coils is another sign that you have a refrigerant leak.

While there will times when we are surprised by AC and Heating problems, there a lot we can do to help prevent AC breakdowns and reduce the likelihood of a repair problem occurring. The best way to do this is to schedule routine AC maintenance every spring. Our technicians will inspect your entire system during your maintenance visit, looking for signs of trouble.

These inspections are crucial to keeping your system in tip-top shape, and our technicians leave nothing to chance. During your maintenance appointment, we will also replace air filters, check coolant levels. And note any potential issues we see so that you can take care of them before they create a problem.

While this may sound like a lot of work (and it is), it’s an important part of owning an air conditioner. Because it helps keep your home cool and comfortable without costing you more money than necessary—which is something we all want!

Your AC unit is an important part of your home, providing you and your family with a comfortable environment. It is important to properly maintain your air conditioner so that it continues to operate at peak efficiency.

There are several things you can do to prevent AC and Heating issues:

    1. Keep your outdoor AC unit clean and clear of debris

    2. Familiarize yourself with your thermostat settings so that you are in control of your system

    3. Replace your air filters every three months, or more often if you have pets

    4. Pay attention to any decreases in performance or potential problem signs

    Conclusion

If you are having trouble with your air conditioner or are seeing signs of a repair problem. Reach out to us for help. We will send a repair technician to your home to diagnose your problem. If we discover a repair problem, we will provide you with your repair options. Send us a message online to schedule an AC repair inspection.
