You should eat fresh and healthy food made from cereals, pulses, fruits, or vegetables. To prevent further health complications, you should avoid eating foods containing high saturated fats, sugar, salt, spices, etc. This food can often cause digestive disorder to the people. Due to irregular eating habits, you suffer from different health problems such as irritable bowel syndrome, dysentery, constipation etc. A person with chronic problems can persistently suffer from these problems. GERD is a severe form of chronic acid problem that causes discomfort to the person such as burning in the chest, etc. 

So, the specialist recommends GERD diet to the people to reduce the problem. 

They should consume certain type of foods, while avoid some foods. The food that should be consumed by the people suffering from GERD disease are vegetables, ginger, non-citrus fruits, seafood, lean meats, egg whites, etc. They should consume vegetables as they are low in fat and sugar. You should consume vegetables such as leafy green, potatoes, asparagus, broccoli, etc. You should avoid foods containing high fats, citrus fruits, tomatoes, spicy foods, chocolates, etc. When you are feeling uneasy you can chew a gum that is sugar-free and not containing spearmint or peppermint. Alcohol can deteriorate the overall health condition of the people suffering from GERD.

You should follow GERD diet strictly to prevent any such complications in the future. This problem usually causes a burning sensation in the chest. So, you should not consume foods that trigger your burning sensation. Caffeinated drinks can trigger burning in your chest and hence you should avoid such beverages.
